In the quiet Two-Forks Valley of Montana, 1921, Charlotte Warren arrives from Cleveland with nothing but hope and a desperate need for a new life. Blind since the war, she's answered a mail-order bride ad seeking a husband, only to find herself in a remote valley with a rancher named Sim Gage who lives in squalor. As she struggles to adapt to her new home and confront her blindness, Charlotte discovers the valley holds more danger than she imagined. With the help of the local doctor, she must navigate a world where she can't see the threats approaching, and where her past haunts her as much as her uncertain future.
